Reviews for The Chronicles of Soone: Heir To The King James Somers's novel, Chronicles of Soone: Heir to the King, is the depiction of a pocket of space where good and evil must once again meet. No shock there; that is the basis for most good stories, but what immediately hits the reader in the face is found on the first page after the prologue, "Not so long ago, in another creation of God..." Wow, that is not something you find everyday in fiction, let alone science-fiction. The key is that he incorporates it like corn in mashed potatoes; its unfamiliar presence is obvious, but it works. While the story surrounding Tiet Soone, one of the main protagonists, is a nice read of battle, honor, and spirituality, Somers's writing style takes on a "no beat around the bush" approach that left me wanting more. -- "James Somers has started his writing career off with a bang with this first book in the Chronicles of Soone series--Heir to the King. James Somers has written an exciting debut that promises to be as epic as Star Wars. The plot moved quickly and there was not a dull moment throughout the entire book. This first book has me hooked for the series."-- Wren Reviews, "The Chronicles of Soone: Heir to the King, by James Somers is an intense, action packed sci-fi story with a heart. Very few novels can pack each page with this level of intensity and still maintain such superb character development. If you're a fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, Dune or any other of the great science fiction franchises, this novel holds its own against them all. I loved that the villains kept coming and that some of them were redeemed. I Couldn't put it down. A gripping story, not to be missed!" -- Jeremy Robinson, bestselling author of The Didymus Contingency and Raising The Past "With orbiting battle stations, genetic experimentation, transdimensional portals and an interplanetary racial war being waged amid the heavens, some might accuse James Somers of being just another science fiction writer. I'm honored to report that The Chronicles of Soone is so much more! This book is an expertly spun tale of honor, courage and nobility; a thoughtful, action-packed web of good versus evil, if you will. Though the spiritually-based storyline is complex, Mr. Somers allows it to unfold in an impeccably written narrative. The writing is so smooth, in fact, that The Chronicles of Soone took off at warp speed and didn't dock until the very last page. I enjoyed it immensely!" - Steven Manchester, Editor, Sunpiper Media Publishing “My people long for freedom,” is a quote from the novel “Chronicles of Soone: Heir to the King,” by James Somers. This statement is the theme of the fast-paced science fiction/fantasy thriller. The story never slows, and the tempo of the battle scenes places the reader in the middle of the action. The story is a fascinating blend of the battles of war and a lost culture™s repeated resistance to domination. The story begins in the year 9027, and records the struggles of four cultures and their fight for control. This, however, is science fiction with an unusual twist. There are allusions to an angels™ rebellion against God, fallen angels, separated from their own kind, and reduced to “disgusting forms.” These beings attempt to control humanity by inhabiting the bodies of the human population, along with the bodies of the King, his heir, and other leaders. These attempts lead to the vivid description of fascinating technology that is used by both sides in this war for domination. According to Somers, this is the first book in a trilogy and every reader will look forward to the remaining episodes and the conclusion of this intriguing tale. -- Susan Thomas, B.A., M.A.
